Branching out in Trust

NOTE: The following article is background information about why Oakwood is “Branching out in Trust.” For all the latest news about Branching out in Trust capital campaign, please click here. To view the Branching out in Trust video shown in the service on March 6, please click here.

Since its launch in 2000, Oakwood has been ministering to the spiritual and physical needs of folks all over Carver County. Those who have benefited from the church’s ministry know its value firsthand. As the body of Christ, Oakwood has preached the good news, restored hope and brought comfort, healing and freedom to many.

But these needs continue as Carver County grows. Carver County is Minnesota’s fourth fastest growing county, and its population is expected to double by 2030.

Likewise, the Oakwood family is growing and preparing to continue its good works of leading people to Christ and developing mature followers of Christ. The church is trusting God to provide all that is needed to continue His work here and to direct Oakwood’s path moving forward.

Oakwood’s Leadership Board believes that having a permanent facility is a significant need for the church. A permanent space will free up countless hours of volunteer time that are currently being dedicated to operating “church in a box.” It will allow these faithful servants to shift the gift of their time to other ministry opportunities.

Having a permanent space also will enable further outreach to the community, such as offering a Saturday evening service. What’s more, the facility could accommodate Carver County’s growing Hispanic population by opening its doors for a Spanish-speaking congregation.

The church leadership envisions building a facility to hold 500 people at worship, as well as a large welcoming and fellowship space, church offices and classrooms for education.

The Leadership Board has commissioned the Capital Campaign Committee, the Land Task Force and the Building Committee to get going. Everyone involved is thrilled to see God’s divine, supernatural activity throughout this process.

God wants to accomplish wondrous things through Oakwood — things that require trust, faith and the participation of everyone in the Oakwood family. Please prayerfully consider what God is calling you to do by means of giving and sacrificing.

Let’s make room for God to reveal Himself to Oakwood. Let’s make room for God to display His glory, power and strength through Oakwood. Let’s begin branching out in trust.

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6
